Foreign Citizen
If you are a citizen of a non-EU/EEA, and are planning to run a business in Norway, you need to have a residence permit that will allow you to work here.
Naming a Norwegian-registered foreign company (NUF)
It is common for a NUF (Norwegian-registered foreign enterprise) in Norway to have the same business name as the foreign company is registered with in its home country. This is also a requirement when the branch in Norway is engaged in business activities and registered in the Register of Business Enterprises. In addition, the abbreviation "NUF" must appear at the end of the name.
Duty and right to register
All foreign companies that carry out commercial activity in Norway are obliged to register in the Central Coordinating Register for Legal Entities and in the Register of Business Enterprises. Foreign enterprises that do not operate in Norway have a right to register in the Central Coordinating Register for Legal Entities if they require a Norwegian organisation number.
Option to submit via E-mail
New branch offices that are to be registered in the Register of Business Enterprises can submit the registration form via www.brreg.no. The processing of registrations submitted via E-mail will commence within 10 working days after it has been received.
