Extraction permits
To be granted an extraction permit, the applicant must be able to document the discovery of deposits of minerals owned by the State that are commercially viable or could become commercially viable within a reasonable period of time.

The documentation that must be enclosed with the application is stipulated in Section 1-5 of the Regulations to the Minerals Act.
The purpose of the extraction permit is to promote and ensure social responsibility in the management and use of mineral resources in accordance with the principle of sustainable development.
The extraction permit does not in itself grant the right to commence operations on mineral deposits. In order to commence regular operations on mineral deposits a number of permits are required in accordance with, among others, the Planning and Building Act, Natural Diversity Act, Pollution Control Act and an operating license pursuant to the Minerals Act.
